I'm looking for a good place to tap in for power for heated hand grips. Insert the heating plate back into the hand grip. Yellow=high green=low black/brown=ground if you have rsi's which i would recommend you will splice or solder:
Ok so here's the deal, i bought a 1990 polaris indy trail parts sled and took the bars off with what seems to be oem heated grips on it, so i then put the bars on my 1990 polaris indy classic, i'm just not sure as how to wire them, i'm being told that i need a resistor but the wiring diagram doesn't show a resistor and there is only a wire coming out of the left hand grip so this. For 208v transformer power cap off r d wire and use brown wire 2. The accessory socket fitted by honda is a piddling 1amp thing, fit only for a phone charger or a gps so i need more power. Not for yamaha snowmobiles because they use 18v for heated grips but can be used on yamaha atvs if they offer 12 volts. Epoxy's instructions, or you may quicken the cure by temporarily wiring the grips in series per the diagram below, and wiring them to a 12v. Hi think the current oxford ones do detect falling battery voltage and switch off (possibly some of the hg ones).
Push the hand grip back onto the handlebar and secure in place with the screws. Clean the handlebars where the heated grips are to go. Find the one for the malfunctioing grip, and see what the curent is at that point.
Eta they're not hard to. Select the correct ring terminal (4, 5 or 6) from the kit to fit the silver terminal stud (with the red wire) on the circuit. With a twisting action, slide on new heated grip assemblies.
Verify that the wiring does not interfere with the throttle or I like having oxford heated wrap arounds on my bikes and will be fitting the wiring next week on the swing, time permitting. Car battery, or battery charger with a minimum of 3 amps charge rating.
I've compounded the problem by addin' grip puppies. Sand any roughness off handlebars. Remove the handlebar grips from the handlebars.

You will likely find that it is either 1) leads disconnected at that location, or b) current flows fine to that point, and the grip is shot.
